Originally from the historic city of Chester, Andrew developed a deep love for the sciences early on, which led him to pursue A Levels in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Maths - achieving top grades in all four subjects. He went on to study at the University of Leicester, where he combined his scientific interests with business acumen through a joint degree in Chemistry and Business Studies, graduating with a 2:1. He later completed a PGCE in 1998, marking the start of a 25-year career in education.
Teaching Experience:
Since then, Andrew has taught and tutored across a variety of educational settings in the UK, Poland, and Spain. He has delivered high-quality instruction in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics from Key Stage 2 through to Key Stage 5, and is highly experienced in both A Level and International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes. He is well-versed in all major UK exam boards - AQA, Edexcel, and Cambridge International (CIE), and has also worked as an examiner for AQA and Edexcel.
Andrew has held numerous leadership roles throughout his career, including Head of Science, Head of Chemistry, Head of Pastoral Care, and Head of Extracurricular Activities. His broad perspective and strong communication skills have made him a trusted mentor and a favourite amongst students and colleagues alike.
Alongside his classroom teaching, Andrew has helped many students prepare successfully for 11+ and 13+ entrance exams at top independent schools, including St Paul’s, Tiffin, Eton, and Wellington College.
Interests:
Andrew leads an active and disciplined lifestyle outside of teaching. He regularly competes in Ironman events around the world and is a nationally ranked age-group tennis player, having played at prestigious venues like Roland Garros and Wimbledon.
A keen cyclist and single-figure handicap golfer, Andrew approaches his personal goals with the same passion and dedication that define his teaching.
