CHEMISTRY, GCSE, A LEVELS
I grew up in Manchester and attended Loreto College Grammar School, where I studied A-level chemistry, physics, maths and art. I then attended Imperial College in London, where I achieved a 2:1 BSc (Hons) degree in Chemistry in 1985. After a year of Post-Graduate research in Chemistry, I earned a Certificate in Teaching in 1987. I have been teaching and tutoring Chemistry since then.
After an initial four years of teaching Chemistry at All Saints High School in Huddersfield, I taught for eighteen years at Our Lady’s High School in Oldham, where I progressed from Head of Chemistry to Head of Sixth Form to Assistant Headteacher, alongside a full schedule of teaching GCSE and A-level Chemistry.
Teaching Experience
I have taught chemistry for 37 years at GCSE level and 36 years at A-level, in UK state schools (for 24 years) and at an independent school (Caxton College) in Valencia, Spain (for 13 years, since 2011). I have also tutored students for the past 13 years, face-to-face in Spain, and online in the UK and internationally. I am known as an engaging teacher who works diligently to bring out the best in my students. Many have gone on to study at leading universities in the UK, EU and USA.
Some of my experience highlights include:
-
13 years teaching Edexcel IGCSE / IAL chemistry, Y10-Y13
-
