11+, Maths
As an experienced teacher/tutor, I am currently working as the Achievement Director of Maths in a central London secondary school. With the right guidance, support and encouragement, on average, GCSE students in my school now obtain one grade better than students at schools with similar intakes.
I have three degrees; MEng, MBA and a PGCE. I initially started tutoring whilst at Queen Mary University by helping out students a year or more below me in their respective courses. I really loved the experience as it gave me plenty of satisfaction knowing that I was helping shape the careers of my peers. From there I started tutoring more and more in my spare time. This eventually led me into teaching.
Maths has always been a passion for me but I understand that for some students it can be cumbersome and anxiety-inducing. I always endeavour to make my students feel comfortable through well-planned lessons to overcome common misconceptions and I teach with a personable attitude showing care and diligence to each student.
Teaching Experience
I have taught students of various abilities and learning needs (over 1000+ hours) including SEN, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, ADHD, high achievers and Oxbridge candidates. Having worked as an examiner, I have knowledge of the various exam techniques required to answer exam-style questions effectively. As such, I am always able to adapt my teaching style to suit an individual's needs. I have been trained to use research-based tools to inform teaching, a system that my department has been extremely successful with. The Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract (CPA) style is highly effective and acts as a hook to learning. I make my lessons engaging and relatable, always using real life examples to make the concepts easier to digest.
I have helped students obtain their desired places in the following schools:
-
City Boys
-
Emanuel School
-
St. Swithun's Independent School
-
Wallington High School for Girls
-
The Latymer School
-
Sutton Grammar School
-
The Tiffin Girls' School
-
Whitgift School
Interests
I love travelling and experiencing new cultures. I also have a passion for good food and sport (especially tennis and football). Above all, I love spending time with family.
