Robert
Biology Tutor 11+, GCSE, A-Level
After A-levels and a Degree in Biology, I had a job as a laboratory technician, which developed into starting research and development on electrolytic cores (chlorine cells) for a small company, however I wanted to teach so I went to Manchester to do my PGCE, and became a science teacher, biology specialism.
I have been teaching for over 20 years now, I have worked in state schools (10 years) and am now in Spain in a private school (for 12 years). I have taught all levels of KS3 science and believe that it should be fun and the activities innovative so that it gets the pupils to think. In the UK I was in charge of Year 9, 10 & 11 applied science (OCR nationals level 2) from sets 4 to 9, but I still taught the AQA GCSE, biology aspect. After setting up the OCR course at school I went to other schools with my resources and methodology for Biology, Chemistry and Physics, helping them set up the course. Since being in Spain my focus has been on KS4/KS5 Edexcel International Biology, but I still teach year 7, 8 & 9 general science.
