Many people who I work with describe me as a natural enthusiast. I think it was this inherent energy that drew me to teaching style roles from a young age. During my school years and university, I volunteered running a Brownie Pack and often tutored younger children during my academic holidays. Upon leaving university, I did not initially go into teaching but worked in the consulting industry for nine years. However, I missed children and tutoring, so I took up a voluntary role with Action Tutoring who deliver 1-1 tuition in disadvantaged schools, predominantly to children who receive free school meals. I am now in the process of moving my work into education on a more full-time basis.

I read Geography at the University of Cambridge.  However, my decision to study Geography was an 11th hour change of direction. Through much of school, I wanted to be a doctor and thus also took A-levels in Maths, Biology and Chemistry, hence my interest in supporting students in a range of subjects today.
