Mock Interviews
With so many schools now favouring to interview pupils before assessments, preparation has never been more valuable. Having interviewed many children over the years as tutors and while teachers ourselves at Independent and Grammar Schools, we have devised a mock interview with a list of ‘fail-safe’ questions, which seem to always arise in interviews for 11+ and 13+.
In advance of the interview itself, and once we have received receipt of payment, we help you to prepare your child at home in advance by providing our exhaustive list of questions. In addition, based on our years of experience in preparing children for interviews and adapting to changes in interview questions and formats for a wide range of schools in London and the rest of England, we also have exclusive access to school specific questions.
The Mock Interview process lasts 1.5 hours in total including comprehensive verbal and written feedback with tangible targets for your child to work on before their real interview. Depending on parents’ preference, and in-line with Covid-19 guidelines, interviews can be conducted either virtually or in person at your home and can be either an individual or a group interview.
If you would like us to organise this for you so that your son/daughter has a real interview experience, please do let us know; we will be happy to organise this for you during the autumn term of Year 6.
Our Schools Consultant, Vania Adams, who is a headteacher at an independent prep school, can also offer a mock interview, as she herself has many years of experience in interviewing.
Vania led my son through a very thorough interview prep that included a huge range of prepared questions as well as questions that arose from a flow of dialogue. She asked him such an array of questions; it’s hard to imagine a question type or theme that wasn’t touched upon. My son, who was reticent to any interview prep, left the session feeling very glad he did it. He felt more confident not just in the substance of what he might be asked, but also with the experience in an interview setting. Vania also provided very clear feedback on strengths and weaknesses, which allowed us to work on weak areas through discussion at home.
Vania is adept with the process of guiding both pupils and parents alike through the 11+ examination system, interview process and the transition to secondary school. She is therefore perfectly placed to provide interview practice and techniques. As a Head teacher, she has substantial knowledge of senior schools in London, excellent relationships with Senior Head teachers and keeps up to date with leadership changes and new initiatives.
